The best City College for music is Pasadena City College.

However, what you plan to do is fine. Transfer to the 4 year and you should be ok.

Okay minmin, I used (California college site) to look up LA City –> UCLA –> Music major:

And did the same for Fullerton to UCLA:

Most majors list actual classes to take at the CC but I notice it doesn’t list any for a music major. However, it DOES tell you the requirements to transfer.

You can get into UCLA from either, but I’d read both and use that to help my decision in what to do.

Lastly, here is a site that shows the stats of transfer students accepted into all the different majors at UCLA. It doesn’t look so hot for music majors, but hey, someone has to get in so it might as well be you!

I haven’t heard anything about music at the schools you mention, but I know that Long Beach City College has always had a good music program.
